Summer Sampler Series
I started this one back in July. I got a few weeks behind but I have finished all my blocks. Putting an actual post together requires good pictures which I never seem to get around to taking.

Mod Times Quilt Along Finished
Started this one in April. Finished the top in the quilt along over at Twin Fibers Mod Times Quilt Along. It took me a while to decide on the border. This quilt used fabrics entirely from my personal supply (aka "stash"). I quilted this one with some straight lines around the rectangles and used free motion to follow the design of the fabric in the border. This was my first time using nylon thread in the top and white thread in the bobbin. I am pleased with the results. No problems with the tension and very few thread breaks.

College Graduation
Made these for college grads from IU (titled Hoosier girl) and Purdue (titled Boiler Up) based on Aneela Hoey's tutorial girl on a tree swing mini quilt tutorial!!!. Incorporated some of their dad's old shirts into the design. I am so proud of both of them. One an engineer off to a job. One a biologist off to grad school at Wisconsin. Great going ladies.
Hoosier Girl
I was able to use my embroidery machine to personalize each mini quilt. They both love music and were in the marching band during college. Yeah!

UPcycled Dog Pillow
I decided to rework a pretty sad dog pillow for the pillow party.
I ordered this dog print fabric on sale from Pink Chalk fabrics.
I thought it was perfect for a dog.
My idea was to use as much of the original pillow as I could along with some other upcycled items.
Here is the project in pictures.

Kyra's spot. She is allowed on the couch if she sits on her spot and is under supervision. Clicking on the picture will enlarge it. |
Starting point
Tearing it apart with Kyra's help. Boy is she excited for a new pillow.
Leftovers. I used most of the original pillow along with an old t-shirt. I used the cording and backing. I cut a bone shape from the t-shirt and used the rest to cover the cording . Patched the back with some of the material from the front.
Kyra Helping Again! |
She can hardly wait. Fits perfectly on one cushion right in the middle. Mission Accomplished and Comfy too. |
Back with some bones and balls to cover the previous holes. |
Close up of machine embroidery. Free paw design from Urban Threads. It is a really cool site and they usually have something free. I bought an embroidery machine about a year ago and do not use it nearly enough :(. |

Housewarming
Wow, its been a while since I posted. I have been working on some housewarming gifts for a friend who is an avid hunter. I purchased this awesome "Incognito is Neato" fabric from Vo on spoonflower. I thought it was perfect for my project.
Really pleased with how it all turned out except, there is always an exception.

I am not thrilled with the quilting that I chose for the front of the potholder. I was mainly trying out some free motion quilting but I feel that it is too busy for this piece.
