Moo

A baby quilt I finished for my husband's co-worker. The first time dad grew up on a dairy farm so I thought this would be perfect.  I fussy cut the centers to have the critters and a farm.

Back is a solid with an aged look.  I got it on sale at pink chalk fabrics but I cannot recall what the fabric was.  I quilted this one with straight lines set on an angle to create a cross-hatched design.  I love how it crinkled.  Rest of the fabrics were from my stash.

This is my second quilt based on this tutorial by teaginnydesigns.
 Have a nice weekend.

I read . . .

banned books

 CIMG1632

A little kindle cover I make with a free embroidery design from .  They have some really cool free stuff that you can find here.
I used the perfect zip bag pattern from Elizabeth and modified the zipper placement and dimensions.  The main fabric is an organic canvas that I got from nearsea naturals.  The linen is from my stash.  Love the leather handle that I picked up at a knitting expo.

I love how it turned out.  Just the perfect size.  I added some embroidery to the back too.

Kyra the Weimaraner Ambassador

Today was open house at our local city off leash dog park.  We joined this year.  I thought it would be fun to promote weimaraner rescue since that is how we found Kyra. Think a weimaraner might be what you are missing?  A great place to find one in the mid-west.  Our entry for park slogan "Welcome to the barking lot where dogs come to be herd"

I made her a tshirt with a pattern I found here.  The knit is some that was damaged when I bought yardage for a maxi dress (wip).  I used some upcycled tshirt scraps for the bindings.

Have a great weekend and try to stay cool.  This is my last link to Ellison Lane Quilts.  Just hoping for the luck of the draw as there are so many wonderful entries.

Summertime

Summertime
A quilt made for a  friends first granddaughter.  I named it summertime due to all the wonderful summer colors.  It was based on this windy days quilt from the moda bakeshop.  I modified the pattern (as if I could ever just follow what is written).  I never seem to have the correct number of charm packs or other fabrics needed for the patterns.  I used a charm pack of Kate Spain central park and moda bella solids.  As usual clicking on the pictures will expand them.

For the back I went to a local fabric store Fields Fabrics which has a great sale section and found the dot from connecting threads fabric.  I was impressed with the quality as others on the web have suggested that connecting threads fabrics are nice and cost effective.  I was able to incorporate some left over HST.
Back using extra HST

I also used my embroidery machine an added the initials of the granddaughter in pink of course.  I really like the Central Park fabric.

I am entering this one in the Summer Sewing Contest quilt category just hoping for the luck of the draw

Fabric Basket

Great place for more treasure (aka junk) to be hidden.  Why does every nook seem to get filled with stuff.  At least it does for me.

Fabric Basket

I made this basket following this sewn stash basket tutorial from the purl bee.  I put my own spin on it with some reverse applique.  The linen is some that I picked up many years ago (dirt cheap) from a clothing manufacturer sale.  I still have several yards and just love using it in many projects.

This is where it usually lives on top of the bookcase in our bedroom.

Thanks to Jennifer once again for a great contest.  I am just keeping my fingers crossed for the luck of the draw  as there are so many great entries.  I will be posting entries in the other categories as well to increase my odds.
